There is a forum like this for Step 1, but none for Step 2 that I could find. I thought it would be prudent to start one, so that we can share our scores and study methods.

For example, I used:
Qbank: Kaplan (100%) Avg = 62% but 70% towards the end
Review books: Boards and Wards, Secrets, Crush, First Aid, First Aid medicine, Step up to Medicine 1/2 though
Study time: 6 weeks

Test date: late June 2011
Score: hopefully find out next week!

Thanks all for contributing to the thread

Woo hoo!!! 255/99 baby!!!!! Yay. Was aiming for 280 but I'll take it. Kaplan Qbank must not be too bad because I used it and scored fairly well on both steps. Maybe I'll try Uworld for step3 just to see if there really is a difference.

Nice score!! Congrats!! Did you do any NBMEs? I did about 80% of Kaplan Qbank with the same 62% average, but then gave up bc it got on my nerves the way they write their questions, so long and convoluted. Did you feel like the real test had the same style of questions with a gigantic story about nothing in the middle of the paragraph and everything you need in the first and the last two sentences of the question?

Thanks!! and congrats again.👍

Thanks for your kind words! I thought the test questions were very difficult and convoluted. I thought they were fairly similar to the Kaplan questions actually. Who knows though, maybe I would have done better with UWorld like everyone says. However, QBank definitely helped me get some questions right and I don't think it's as bad as people say. They did underestimate my score by 30 points. No NBMEs were used.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SCORE.............

i am giving my step2 ck on 8-24-2011, would like to get some advice.

How many times did you do Kaplan Qbank for step 2 ck before appearing for the exam?

Which edition of kaplan Qbank did you use i.e if you did a paper back edition?

I keep forgetting medicine and Peds ,though have gone through the entire books 3 times , i just keep on reading without doing question as am afraid that i would exaust the pool i have (uworld 2011).
And lastly which method is better (a)do the entire book of a subject and then do all the block from that subject; or (b) do the entire course and then still and do the complete pool of uworld in one go? ( personally in the 2nd scenario i am scared i would score horrible as i don't have a long term retension, am even scared of doing an entire book of a subject followed by the quesitons pool for that particular book).Any guidance

Method of study is ...reading, trying to memorize and making important notes on the side of the kaplan lecture notes of the corresponding topic/underlying imp things, multiple reading of chapter(s) in one sitting followed by multiple sittings, making notes in a separate notebook all the above to no benifit, when i read the chapter/book after finishing the reads of all books its like i had never read the books earlier (ie,starting from zero in every read). At the back of my mind while i am doing the topic i have this Nagging feeling that i might forget this....cant seem to get rid of it(have tried to get rid of this feeling, believe me).

I was a good student in my medical school and scored pretty well in mcqs.

Sorry for making you read through my troubles, but when i saw your thread i had to seek guidance.

That thread says it's for UWorld... I used Kaplan Qbank. Thanks for the well wishes - good luck to you too.

I don't mean to play internet police, but even if it says UWorld it's pretty much used as the thread to talk about step 2 scores, experience, and etc. It just puts everything into one thread and makes it easier on lazy old me. 🙂
