I got a letter today and I got a scholarship for 5K!!! Yeah................:banana:

Hey does anyone know anything about housing and also the whole scholarship thing, like how do they decide who gets one and for how much?? Mine was only for 4K, I mean NOT complaining at ALL but was just wondering.

Just got my letter with a scholarship too. I can relax now knowing that they didn't accidently send me the acceptance email on friday..Ha.. (it crossed my mind). Now im officially stoked. Good times to come thats for sure.
How is everyone going to find housing? I think I'm going to head up to Dallas over spring break and start checking it out. Let me know if anyone's planning to do the same. Enjoy the approacing break. Everyone deserves it.
 
Does anyone know if the fraternities on campus are really active or not? I was just wondering if they had alot of social events or not. I know that some schools like minnesota have big parties and like formals and semi-formals. Just wondering.

my boyfriend went to the university of Minnesota dental school and he was a member of delta sigma delta and he said that the dues were about 250 dollars a year. He said it was way worth it...........
 
I had a question.. Does anyone know if there are any dental programs or clinics within the Dallas area where Baylor students are able to volunteer while in school. I want to stay involved in volunteering when I'm in d-school. Just wondering.

i don't know of the programs off head...but they do ALOT! we discussed it at my interview but that was so long ago, i don't remember...

I asked a similar question during my interview with Dr. Miller. She told me there are plenty of opportunities. You may email her for more specifics.

I would like to be there by July sometime. Im heading up during spring break to start looking for a place. Anyone know of any good places where I won't get robbed in the middle of the night, or cost me an arm and a leg??
 
Moving up between June/July. Where is everybody coming from? I'm moving up from SA.

I have a friend living in Dallas now and asked him about living, he said anywhere uptown is really nice and convenient, but then again really nice=expensive. Ill try to find out some more from him as I procrastinate further during exams.😱

I was bored earlier so I got online and started looking at apartments near campus and can't seem to find anything in a decent area less than $1000. I know its too early to start stressing about how I'm going to afford an apartment, but is anyone going the roomate route? Just wondering.

We have to wait, wait, and wait some more.....we should be getting financial aid and student affairs packets in spring. I can't wait until August!

Yeah I've been looking into the living stuff as well. I found some called the village apartments that look alright. Anyone else find anything? Also, I'm still considering NYU, and it's tough to make a choice. Coming from SA by the way!
 
The Village apartments are pretty nice, and definitely more affordable than a lot of places. I have a friend who is living there right now with his fiancee who goes to BCD, and he says pretty good things about it. I have also heard that a lot of UTSW students live there as well, so it seems like a pretty nice environment. It would allow you to meet other professional school students.

I'd live close to where the SMU sorostitutes live. theres nothing like daddy-rich hotties looking for a promising man to support her shopping habits 🙂!

I was in Dallas over the holidays and the village where one of the apt's I'm considering. Surprisingly there are a lot of options for living around Baylor. It really depends on how much your willing to pay. Looks like there are a few of us from SA!!

NYU, did you get a scholarship? That tuition is crazy high, but it would be cool to live in NYC. Good luck with your decision.
 
Nah no scholarship. NYU would be crazy cool, but Baylor offered me a scholarship too. Yeah the village looks pretty cool, I just dont know how far it is from campus. It seems to be really reasonably priced, and I'm sure they're nice.
 
hey, i've been lurking around here for a bit, and am starting Baylor in the fall. just thought i'd throw my two cents in regarding apartments, as i've been living in Dallas for my entire life now.

the village apartments is like a giant huge apartment community: several complexes are part of it, and you can find things under a wide range of prices. i think they share a central healthcenter/park type area. my best friend was living in the cheapest section and moved out because it just wasn't that great/safe. that being said, i'm sure the nicer complexes which are part of The Village are good, and i think some of them are gated. my boyfriend's roommate made the comment that "everyone lives in the Vilage at some point", which is more or less accurate. my dad was once talking about how it was the place to be back when he first moved to dallas, and how the cast of the show "Dallas" all lived there or something, back in the day. i'd say it's probably a ten/fifteen minute drive to Baylor, depending on traffic. it's a convenient location: close to downtown, close to Greenville, close to NorthPark (the best mall in Dallas!), close to the original/biggest Half Price Books, etc etc.

i'm looking to live closer to campus. my dad is for some reason deadset on me living within walking distance, and since he's helping foot the bill, i can't exactly complain. i'm also looking for a roommate, if possible, so if anyone's interested (i'm female, wanting a female roommate), let me know. my dad works around there and says there's a new complex opening in March-ish and for some reason thinks that would be THE BEST PLACE EVER. . .i think it's near the Marquis on Gaston, but i haven't personally seen it, so i'm not sure.

anyhow, don't know if i can offer much help, but if anyone has any Dallas-related questions, let me know. i think it's a great place to live, but i could be fairly biased.
 
oh, also, has anyone made some sort of "Baylor Class of 2012" Facebook group yet? i didn't know if that was lame or what, but uh, that's totally the kind of thing i'm dying to join. . .

I noticed they were throwing a new complex up when I was in town. Do you or you Dad have any info on it?
