Hey guys, not to start another thread on scores, but I wanted to help compartmentalize the data so other DO students in the future could distinguish between the numbers.

And in the interest of knowing if any of these unbelievable scores of recent are from DO students, this will be the perfect place to tell all. So in honor of BigFrank's accomplishment, I have only slight embarrassment with posting my results. Please post your results if you are a DO and even if you have posted them on other threads. And don't be intimidated by BigFrank. That dude is simply a machine!!! Honestly though, I am very pround to have done this well from a DO school since our focus being a bit more primary care tends to leave us hanging on some of the more detailed basic sciences like biochem, cell bio. I have no regrets in my study pattern and yet realize I probably could have done somewhat better if I had done 8 hour days like many of you. But I am inherently lazy!!!

232/94
MCAT 23M
QBank 74% non randomized.
Class Rank #4, GPA after 2nd year 95.02
Released Items 72% before hard core studying
Hours per day between May 6th and June 14th, average 4.
COMLEX- guess I'll find out sometime around Christmas until they buy a computer at NBOME!!!

Matt

matt

good job man..232 is really good.did you get yours in the mail? At NOVA they told me that they do not get them and that i would have to wait on the mail. according to the website they were releaseed yesterday. You should be proud of that score
ill post mine when they come

go celebrate

Awesome Job. Really Wonderful!!!

Congrats on that class rank, too.

I'll guess I'll contribute:

Step 1: 236 (forgot the 2 digit)
NBME Form A: 480
NBME Form B: 530
Released Items: 77%
MCAT 27R
Biceps: 16.5"
Waist: 32"

Just glad it is over. Now I can look forward to my IM rotation!

I found a guy in the IT department at my school who was somehow the contact at our school to NBME, and I kissed his butt long enough this morning that I got him to log on and look it up for me.

Waist 38
BMI 29

Thank you guys for the support. Anyone that cannot see that BigFrank is a class act for complimenting those with good scores is blind. Thanks Franky!! You still be de man though. We people headed for FP don't need those good scores though!!

I'm seriously considering FP, my dear friend PACtoDOC!! I love the field!!!

With a score like yours BF you should just get promoted to PGY2 if you do FP!!!

And BF, if you do decide to go FM, please tell me where you will be considering going because it would be great to be in a place with high caliber people.

Seriously, I will let you know.

Hey all,

Just got my scores in the mail today. Matt - congrats dude! You should check your mailbox. So, here we go:

School: UNTHSC-TCOM c/o 2006
USMLE step 1: 250/99
MCAT: 31-dont' remember the written score. Did anyone even look at that?
BS: 10
PS: 9
VR: 12
QBank: ~85% on the questions I did (about 22%)
Didn't take any unreleased items or practice tests.
Studied hard though.

You're right on about the freaking COMLEX and NBOME though.. they need to get their head out of their a**es and join the 21st century. But that's another rant for another time.

Hey, what is the 2 digit score? Is it a percentile?

later,

jd

The 2-digit score is NOT a percentile, though it's an extremely common misperception. For example, an 82 2-digit score is the average, which one could argue is about the 50th percentile. Your score is awesome, though. A 265 is statistically in approximately the 98th percentile, for example (2 SD above mean), and a 241 is about the 84th percentile (1 SD above the mean).

Hey Frank,

I didn't figure it was.. it just didn't say anywhere what it actually is. Any ideas? Just another conversion?

laters,

jd

I am blown away by your performance dude. You are my osteopathic hero!! You are the f-in man!! I am so glad to see you did this well because I know you want to do a top EM program. You are in now dude....aint nothing stoppin you!! So you ready to start our new little project D? I think it is really close to up and running!!
You beat Jarrod FYI!!! And probably Ira as well although no official word on what that dude actually made. But I would guess no one in our class will beat you. Guess you can carry that "anti administration" stick a little higher over your head now because they ain't ever gonna touch you with that score!! Now if we could only get BigFrank to convert to DO we would be in business!!

Again congrats on your score, and I am unbelievably proud and excited for your young white ass!!!

Your buddy,
Halfbreed

Thanks, Halfbreed (??? - I get it, but interesting how you use a conventionally derogatory term to describe yourself). You did really well yourself!

I'm ready for the little project anytime it's up and running.

And please don't ever talk about my young white a*s again in public.... 🙂 It's just wrong.

jd

the #1 student at my school in the 2004 class matched FP, and the current #1 ranked student in my class is also going into FP...

Congrats, everyone on your great scores.. as we see, it's not only the allopaths that can rock the MLE!

jd

I sure as hell didn't do as well as some of you did but I'm pleased. Especially since I thought I failed that badboy with all those cell bio Q's. The performance profile showed I did quite well in that section afterall but I'm an idiot when it comes to genetics...I didn't study that section at all. It's my own damn fault. It could have made the difference. Oh well! Congrats to all. We beat them at their own test 😉 .

223/90 (Beat the mean by 2 pts! Woohoo! Someone tell John Hopkins I'm comin'...)
GPA = P
Class Rank = N/A
Qbank 75% non randomized/subject based
Confessed slacker
Prayed a lot and owe all the credit to GOD
Drunk QOD since the exam... including today.

204/83

Not the greatest score, yet I'm not too dissapointed. I've never claimed to be a genious and I studied hard.

Hey Val,
Do not be ashamed of your score. Remember, DO's have a slightly different focus on boards than MD's, and our exam is way different. I honestly felt like COMLEX I was way more clinical, and harder in particular areas like radiology, micro, pharm. It will be interesting to see how COMLEX scores correlate with USMLE. My guess is that there will not be a huge correlation. In fact, I'll put some money on it that most of the people with the high scores come back closer to the mean with COMLEX. I expect to do this at least. Any DO that passes the USMLE should be very proud and not hang their head low. 30% of us fail it right off the bat the first time.

Thanx PAC...I appreciate your kind words. I'm kind of looking forward to getting my COMLEX results b/c, you're right, the exams emphasize different things. I did poorly on the genetics portion of the USMLE (and there were a lot of genetics q's), but the COMLEX had little to no genetics. We shall see I guess.

-Val

I choked on the genetics too!! It was my only category that had a portion of the asterix's below that "bad" line. I was surprised it was not my biochem that was that low!!

I must not really be a DO, because my lowest section was musculoskeletal. I was shocked. Some of my best were the genetics and biochem.

Just wierd.

closet MD! just kidding.

I, for one, noticed that several of the musculoskeletal questions on the MLE were almost word for word like those on the COMLEX. Stuff like nerve distributions, etc. When comparing the two exams, musculo really seemed to me the most similar. As for the rest of it, the MLE was pretty straight forward, but the COMLEX came out of left field alot... of course, I was ready for that after 2 years of OMM exams 😀

What test did you take? Its called the USMLE not the MLE. This is why DO's should stick w/ the COMLEX.

Hey Chuck,
You are attempting to spar with a DO student in Delaughter that probably scored higher on his USMLE (MLE) than you have dollars in your checking account. So unless you have over 250 bucks left after you pay for your Accutane, I suggest you shut up and let him call the test whatever he chooses. With a 250, he can call it "HIS" test.

Ouch!!! Nice one, PACtoDOC!

By the way, can you help me add that guy to my Buddy List? I've been meaning to for some time now. 😎

That was actually kind of dumb. I guess BigFrank needs to support you after you sucked him off half a dozen times. Nevertheless, DO's should take their exam and the real doctor's should stick with their exam.

How bout BigFrank and PacDoc apply as couples match since you guys suck each other off non-stop.

Say hello to my little friend....(moderator)...thanks for intervening before I decided to take another one of my famous 1000 yard verbal-head shots on those jerks!! Banned!!!

PACtoDOC, At least the word's out that we're pals!!! Thank God they got banned -- it was like listening to 2 fat bullies that walk around and think they "own the playground" in 3rd grade or something.

Well, actually I've met a lot of residents who are DOs here at Hopkins. I am always tempted to go up to them and ask them about my back pain and see if they can do that spine manipulation thingy on me.

CONGRATS! You have all done great! 😀

191/78 😳
gulp gulp
I passed!!!
now its time to shine during third and fouth years!
i love rotations! i wish i could have said that about biochemistry in first year. lol
