Official MCG acceptance thread

I called the office of admissions this morning and was told the 2010 class is filled. The only letters they're sending out this week are waitlist followed by rejection.

For those of you who are waitlisted, how did you find out?

Also, has anyone been rejected yet?

I am starting to freak out now!!!!!!!!!!

I received a letter today saying I was on the alternate list (regular mail dated Dec. 17th). I had called the school earlier in the day (they gave no indication I was on the alternate list) and was told they had placed 20 people on the alternate list. While I'm hopeful of getting in this year I am wondering what the success rate is for alternates in the subsequent application cycle?

so if we havent gotten anything yet (interviewed in Nov), should we be expecting that rejection letter?

I think Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Douglas are the most corrupted and unprofessional admission people i have ever interacted with. Both of them are total bitches that think they are above you or know everything.. in reality, they are nothing but some office ladies that makes like 10 dollars an hr and never had attended school like we had or ever will. .

.... I have nothing against MCG and i truly believe that it is a great dental school. but the way their admission office choose applicants is 100% unfair!..

Mrs. Perry straight up told me I would have to kiss her ass to get accepted there... its crazy!

so for those that didnt get in to MCG this year.. dont think you are a reject..

regardless of your opionions on MCG, the admissions staff, or the admissions process, personal attacks on individual people from the school are really uncalled for. judging by your reaction to a presumed denial, you might want to reevaluate some personal issues you may have regarding dschool admission before placing blame on others for your misfortunes.

Any current MCG students have a best estimate for the number of alternates that made it into your respective classes? I realize the number changes from year to year. Given the current economy I'm guessing we'd be lucky to have more than 3 or 4 turn down their acceptance offers and free up a slot for one of us alternates.Thanks.

Has anyone heard of anyone being accepted off of the alternate list yet or of anyone who has been accepted choosing another school?

I did see where someone on Predents was accepted to MCG but is headed somewhere else. I'm still wondering 1) how many typically get pulled from the alternate list and 2) are they needing a few people to turn down their acceptances before they would even get to the list?

Yeah, I think that someone does have to choose another school/not accept for an alternate to be taken. I still haven't heard of any alternates being pulled yet. Anyone heard anything else???

I suspect we will have to wait until late next week or early the following. The first wave of acceptances were received the week of Dec 7-11. I believe they have 30 days to make a decision. I suspect MCG is going to wait for the 30 days to be up on the first group, determine how many spots are now open and then start pulling people off the alternate list. I do know they are assembling the alternate list, confirming who has agreed to be on it and who has not. They called yesterday to confirm that I had agreed to be on it (I scanned and emailed my agreement rather than faxing).

I hate this waiting game. Anyone please post something if you hear any news.

If its any good news to you guys, I didn't commit to MCG and spoke with Ms Perry today to withdraw acceptance. 1 open spot... 🙂

good luck

No you didn't.... She called me right after she called you and said you didn't speak to her. You know who this is cause you can't answer my phone calls either.... Sapp

Can someone please confirm that applicants have 30 days to send in their deposits from the time they receive their offers? or is there a set date such as Jan 15th?

Hi everyone,

I have been searching on Facebook to see if any of our fellow classmates had started a Facebook group for MCG Dental School Class of 2014 but no one has. I am really excited about the acceptance and would like to get to know my future classmates. So lets work on starting a group!
