Hi all,

I had a few questions regarding the Step 1 prep materials that are out there.

First, are these "NBME Form 1, 2, etc" official practice exams given by NBME? If not, can someone explain what they are, how many there are, and where I can purchase them (could I have a link please?)

Also, what's the deal with the practive exam that you can take at the Prometrics place? Is that just one of these NBME practice exams?

Finally, for people who have taken the actual Step 1, or any of the practice NBME tests, which of the following question banks did you find were more indicative of the NBME offical questions:

Kaplan,
USMLEWorld,
First Aid's 1000 Question book,
USMLERx??

I'd truly appreciate any help or advice you have to offer.

Thanks you guys so much for your help, and best of luck to you all!

There are four forms total that cost around $50 each. You will receive a score report that gives you an estimated board score and also breaks down your score by subject.

Purchase here: http://www.nbme.org/programs-services/medical-students/sas/index.html

This is the 150 released questions from usmle.org. You can download the program and take them on your own computer, or you can go to the test center and take them. I think the fee is $60.

Find here: http://www.usmle.org/step1/default.htm

#1 Kaplan - Tests a lot of detail but has a good mix.
#2 USMLEWorld - Requires in depth problem solving.
??? First Aid's 1000 - I am assuming this is similar to usmlerx.
#3 USMLERx - Requires thorough knowledge of First Aid.

Good luck!
