its either this, or making another sandwich.

no, boss, i don't remember what naftifine is. do you remember what ciclopirox olamine is? didn't think so . . . .

Well I have one last test in the semester before finals - endocrine/reproduction - my motivation has been in a steady decline for the last two months - it's at an all time low. I am so excited to be done on May 5th with the classroom portion of med school. I am SO READY TO BE DONE. I've also eaten more in the last 7 hours than I think I did all of last week....no more frosted animal cookies...must stop.....

Huge neuroscience exam on Monday. Tracts, oh these f**king tracts!!! I find I eventually come down with all the symptoms that I am studying about 5 hours into it, such as ataxia, nystagmus and decorticate rigidity!!!

as long as it doesn't progress into decerebrate you may come out alive. I also have a neuro exam on monday. I like the subject, but damn, covering it all in 4 weeks is brutal.

Mine is on Tues, Thu, Fri - three neuro exams covering 9 weeks of stuff. Running out of novel ways to procrastinate. Any suggestions??

ID on Monday then off on a 4 day cruise for me. Too bad I have another 8 week block before summer starts.

i cleaned out my email inbox, downloaded a cool movie, and i read four New Yorker articles .. ..oh, and i made sandwiches. i downloaded the movie Primer . . . loved it!

We only have one set of exams each block --- unfortunately, this block ends on Thursday. Exams start the next Monday and end on Wednesday. I feel like I'm sooo far behind. It's hard to learn neuro in only 7 weeks!

I have three weeks left of class, then two weeks of finals. Well, technically they are my Block IV exams and THEN a cumulative exam (usually a shelf) in each subject...then summer. Oh sweet, sweet summer. May 27th is going to be a beautiful day, if I don't flunk out. We are two weeks into this block and I think I've read like....two lectures? Motivation has left me. MUST. GET. MOTIVATED.

O neuro, how I hate thee 😡

Just so I can bring you guys down with me:

Scrubs episodes on iTunes $1.99. Great way to procrastinate for 20 minutes. We have neuro over 6 weeks. Tomorrow's exam is notoriously the most difficult with a substantial drop in class average often noted. Relative to any other class, my "just pass" mentality is predominating.

summary of my day:
2 days till exams

- wake up around 10 am- hey I need all that extra sleep to get some good study energy going

- 11:00 just finished a leisurely breakfast - hey I need all those extra calories for some good study energy

- 11:05 sit down with my giant cup of coffee all motivated to study

- study 20 minutes - good productivity - time for a mini break

- web surf for 20 minutes

- study for 10 minutes

- talk on the phone with boyfriend for 40 minutes

- study for 5 minutes - develop need for a snack to keep me motivated

- eat completely unneccessary cookies

- study 20 minutes - whoohoo another productive stretch - reward myself with half hour of websurfing

- sit down with full intention of studying

- my dad calls to tell me about his trip to Italy; talk to Dad for half hour

- open up my embryology lecture - stare at some cicrles and squiggles that the legend tells me are actually diagrams of developing middle ear - close embryology lecture

- remember that my blood sugar is dropping and eat some more ridiculously unnecessary cookies

- finish embryology lecture - ha I win!

- open up seizure lecture - try to memorize differences between clonic-tonic-clonic and clonic-tonic seizures; close seizure lecture

- realize that I have to paint my nails - looking good for exams is sure to bring luck

- three coats later open up seizure lecture: try to memorize difference between complex partial and simple generalized; close seizure lecture

- call my boyfriend to ask him something I forgot earlier - leave him a 10 minute message when he doesn't pick up

- eat some frozen pineapple slices; completely not hungry but it's better than studying

- decide to change my nail color - pink is just more lucky

- get through half of seizure lecture

- write a protracted description of my day on SDN

- need more procrastinating advice...... 😱

OK so officially the best thing I did all day was read your post - thank you for that. I started to read it to my roommate and then I stopped and she's all "keep reading!" LOL. Your day of studying closely resembles my day of studying with the exception of the 5 minutes I jumped up and down to see if I could get my pants to fall down, it was actually my mother I talked to and she didn't go to Italy, and I have no boyfriend. 😡 But otherwise - identical - oh, and except red is my lucky toenail color.

I have read one page today. I consider this a success, so now I'm drinking a beer. I set small goals, so that when I accomplish them, I feel better about myself. This is the secret to a healthy self-esteem.

noone said anything about mine 🙁

*needs more attention*

im doing peds immuno schedules atm

what is your avatar? Is that your back? I am REALLY F-ed for tomorrow - I'm hoping that I can just squeak by in pharm to maintain my passing grade - it's the last pharm test ever and I haven't even looked at half the material - the test is at 9.
whatever

Every time I tell myself I'm going to stop procrastinating. But then I find something better to do.

Neuro lab exam at 9am. Just finished looking at the pictures for the first time. Taking well-deserved break on SDN. Have eaten so much goldfish that I'm actually starting to get sick of them.

Taking the same Neuro exam as Akpete at 9 tomorrow. This is probably the 10th time tonight I've made my way through my various haunts on SDN and checked this thread for updates. I'm saving the inner ear histology stuff for tomorrow morning before the exam. I spent a good hour reading some of Sacrament's old threads...pure comic gold. My SDN habit is becoming more of an obsessive compulsion lately.

sick as this may sound, i'm starting to spend my "off-time" . . . i.e. procrastinating . . . reading about finance. understanding how my loan interest will accrue, which is one of the scariest f***ing things i ever seen (see a web loan-debt calculator), what the current consolidation rates will mean in the future, inflation, taxes, investments, etc . . . i'm by no means an economist, so i'm finding it all pretty interesting . . . and sobering.

funny to think this can be interesting to me while i'm bored stiff reading about some interesting part of anatomy or physiology, which are my "passions"

I am going to have a beer tonight in honor of all of us who took it in the arse today!! :meanie:

I'll join ya on that. 👍

done, done done and DONE!!!!! now it's nap time for the next....oh 36 hours or so....

This is true for me too...and probably other people. The other day I found myself going through an old histology computer program (even though that class is done) rather than study neuro.

It is kind've scary that we reach a point where we're like anything but what I'm suppose to do.

I understand what you mean. There was a point where i was all gung-ho about everything. Nowadays people are running around stressed that we have exams and all i can think is "Big deal! When DON'T we have exams?" In fact, i sat down last week and actually wrote down a list of all the exams i would have to sit before graduation. I thought it would scare me into working but i actually started laughing.
