So I got freaked out by someone elses post, I looked through all the requirements at all the schools I applied to, and LECOM has 6 hours of behavioral science required. I have 3 hours from Psychology, also I have been looking at the english requirement of 6 hours. I took a 3 hour english composition class and a 3 hour communication class which counts for the remaining 3 hours of english required at my university, however, I forgot to add that in the end of my personal statement like the instructions say(didnt read that part), regardless...my personal statement is at max characters (4496). Is PCOM really strict in requiring the English literature in addition to the english composition. If I have to take these 2 addtional classes, I will have to do it at my community college as I am done with school already, is that going to be an issue? Will my application now be delayed, I already applied several days ago. HELP ME!!!!....thanks!

A lot of students apply without having completed all the requirements, which is fine. However, the schools will make you take those courses before they allow you to matriculate.

I'm not sure what you are talking about you forgot to include it in your PS, I didn't and wasn't aware that you are supposed to talk about course idiosyncrasies in your PS.

If you're completing the prereqs during this year then no it won't delay you.

Yeah I don't get why you would talk about your courses in your PS.

The AACOMAS instructions say that if you used an upper level course in another department to fulfill a semester of your English requirement, you should explain it at the end of your PS. travoltage, I am in the same situation as you are--I have 6 characters to spare! I am planning on calling next week to ask what to do in this situation, but would appreciate anyone else sharing if they already know the answer!

So I called and talked to a not so helpful man. He told me to email AACOMAS and they would let me know what to do. I emailed, they didn't respond. I found a phrase that I could cut without changing the meaning of my essay and very briefly addressed the issue at the end of my PS ("Phil 1 fulfilled English requirement.") Hopefully that will be OK!

Why are you mentioning it at all in your personal statement?

Don't you remember that weird AACOMAS instruction from last year?

AACOMAS said:
English Requirement: If you fulfilled your undergraduate institution's English requirement with a course(s) outside of the English Department, list the appropriate course(s), up to six semester hours, as English. Make a notation that this course(s) was approved as fulfilling your English requirement by your institution at the end of the Personal Statement. Contact the AACOMAS office with any questions or irregularities.

If u can take those classes at a University it would be better, But if u take them at a Community college you will be fine, it shouldnt be a problem 👍

I went to LECOM (2006) and I don't recall a 6 hour behavioral science requirement. Is that new? I agree with the others, I'm not sure why you are talking about your classes in your PS unless you are explaining prior poor performances. I think you should be fine.
