I just got invited today for a mid February interview with OSU.

Does anyone have substantiated rumors regarding the current state of acceptances to OSU? If I'm only interviewing for a waitlist spot, I'm not sure I want to make the trip...

While it is an interview for the waitlist, there is always movement, especially after May 15th, when applicants with more than one acceptance must choose one school. Hope that helps.

Ohio State University Admissions

Total: 2,998 685 412 210 In state: 1,054 401 254 160
Out of state: 1,944 284 158 50 Women: 1,330 261 213 101
Minorities: 1,083 421 84 58 International: 40 5 0 0
Acceptance rate: 13.7%

So what if its for the waitlist. Last year they offered 254 acceptances for a much smaller class of instaters. I doubt if your chances of eventual acceptance are different either way.

If you want to go to Ohio State, go to the interview! "Waitlist" does not equal "minute chance of acceptance."

from what i've seen and heard, osu has a lot of waitlist action

I know someone who interviewed at Ohio State in mid March and got in off the waitlist in July, so getting on a waitlist is not a bad thing at all. Just do your best on the interview and getting in, whether directly or via a waitlist will happen.

TONS of people at OSU get in off the waitlist. the waitlist is a good place to be 🙂
