Ohio State Residency

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Loved the program. Residents were happy, seemed to have genuine comaraderie between them. PD was not the usual suck up, our program is the best kind of person. Loved her.

Also thought it was a great program. Happy residents who get along with each other and faculty. Nice hospital and department with some money to spend. Good variety of cases. They're going to be in a bit of a transition by going from a chair who's an OB/GYN to the new one from Wake Forest (trained at Ohio State) but I'll venture to guess it'll only make the program stronger.

Don't forget, it is The Ohio State University.🙂

lol. gotta love this. and i'll admit that i'm partially stealing this comment from bill simmons, but this whole "the" thing has started an annoying trend. don't you think it's silly when some DIII football player states that he's from "THE southwest missouri state university"?

On interview day, everyone was really nice. However, the program has a lot of weaknesses. It definitely is not strong in research. I was told that if you want to go into academics or go onto competitive fellowships, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to remain in the midwest in private practice then it is not a bad place to be. Could use more cRNA's from what the residents said. Perks....it is a white collar city compared to Cleveland, there is camaraderie among residents, and faculty appear laid back.

I would agree that they aren't strong in research, though I'm not sure about not getting "competitive" fellowships. One of their graduating residents is going to do pain @ Duke, I believe. A significant portion of the past graduates have gone on to do academics. That being said they aren't at places like UCSF, etc.

Hey guys, I am new to this so I need a little help!
I was interested in a different field until now that I am doing more surgery (3rd yr Med Student) and realized that I actually like Anesthesiology more than anything else!
I have a question, was is the average step I and step II score accepted for anesthesiology at OSU? and what is the average step I and step II score accepted for anesthesiology nationwide.
I have 210 on my first step and I am trying to bump it up for step II. I have published research in ophthalmology.
What are my chances
Thanks

you're gonna get various answers with regards to average board scores - that being said, you should be fine at ohio state, especially if you are an allo msIII.
