I don't know how many were offered, or how much others might have been but I was lucky enough to be offered a scholarship at OSU for academics this past cycle. I am OOS and the scholarship offer was $15,000 off the first year's tuition.
I didn't apply to OSU. But the general consensus is that a few dental students will be offered merit based scholarships before D1 starts. There will be opportunities for more scholarships as the academic year progresses; they are incentives to do well in dental school and to stay on top of your class. I wouldn't completely depend on these scholarships and look for job opportunities if you have the time to do so. You can earn monthly stipends through research with government funds. Apply to other non-dental related scholarships. Money is money and it does not discriminate.
That is true, I definitely plan to do so if I get in somewhere.
I did hear, though, that OSU gives some half-tuition scholarships to incoming IS students, but I wasn't sure just how many people get this.
