Ohio State's selectivity?

Ohio State is a fairly selective dental school. They have stats very similar to the Ivy Leauge school. I'm sure OSU is a great school, but is there any particular reason they are so selective?

1. State schools= CHEAP!
2. Dental school prestige doesn't matter nearly as much as it does for undergrad/law/business schools.

Consequently, great candidates matriculate at state schools like OSU!

But why are they so selective? Other state schools - that are also prestigious - don't have such high stats. Michigan, University of Washington, and UCLA to name a few

Cost might be a factor.

Are they research based? Do they match into residency programs? Or do people just love the Buckeye feel? haha

OSU is known to use a giant numbers game-based selection system.

Your stats and ECs are all scored and put into a big database. They go down the list and accept the high scorers. They're more objective than other Big Ten schools and hence their high numbers.

UofW and UCLA are two of the most selective schools.
