Hello, I just wanted to post to see where some people are at with OHSU class of 2010. I interviewed 1/17/06 and was put on hold 3 weeks later. OHSU applicants who have interviewed feel free to post so we can get a communication link of how the admissions cycle is going this year. 🙂

What does it mean "on hold"? is it waiting list or some other hold?

Basically, OHSU is a non-rolling admissions. This means that they like to interview everyone before they make a decision. I hear that 5 to 10% of interviewed people get accepted immediatly but the majority of people get put on hold. Hold isn't a waitlist, the wait list gets put out some time during mid may. How did your interview go?

Its brutal how they do that. It really leaves you with no idea where your at. What are the other schools you are waiting/have been accepted to?

My interviews went strange. Both interviewers were very distant, detached and relaxed. There were no questions about ethics or health care...
So I do not have any idea what they actually felt about me going to their school.

I'm also on hold. I called recently and to find out when they were planning to accept people off the hold list and she said after all interviews were complete and reviewed. She estimated ~first week of may!!! 🙁 She also said she couldn't estimate where I stood compared to everyone else.... so who knows. So they are essentially waiting until the last minute to fill there class (if they truly only admit 5-10% of interviewees initially that is only 26-52 people) and according to mdapplicants.com they are out of state.

Yea.. I wish they would at least be able to tell us vaguely where we stood, like top third or something. The wait till may will be a very long one. I have zero acceptances so far, so by the time I find out from them I should be half way done with my 2006-2007 AMCAS application. I wish it didn't overlap like that.

Actually, no. I have a school that I would prefer over OHSU, but I am waitlisted there and it may be a long-shot. I haven't been accepted anywhere yet either, so the wait is killing me!!

On hold post interview as well. I loved the campus, atmosphere, students are very cohesive, bunch of class games, beautiful surroundings. I am as excited about OHSU as my state school, aside from the cost.

Yup, Dr. Gattey was the same guy I interviewed with. I think they gave us the good cop bad cop technique. Thanks for the info about mid may. What a terrible wait. That also means I am going to have to pay a 1000 dollar seat deposit to a school I may not be going to.

I interviewed there on December 6, and all 3 interviews went really well and were mutually enjoyable. 2 for the MD program, 1 for the MPH program. I have been "On Hold" since early January, and am still awaiting a final decision following their pretty authentic "non-rolling admissions" cycle. Good luck to all!

I've been holding since October. I'm in-state. It's been a REALLY long wait, and it's not even close to being over. 🙁

It looks like a few people got rejected-post interview last year (based on the mdapplicants.com profiles). I think about half of the interviewees get rejected in the spring/summer.

I interviewed 12/7, was put in the holding pool in early January, and am disappointed to hear we won't know anything until May!! I was under the impression that once March 15th hit, they would then at least send us a number indicating a placment on a list. I've been accepted at Boston, so ditto on the deposit payment if it's going to take that long for OHSU....

On my interview day they told us they would start being aggressive about accepting people off the hold list in late February. So when March rolled around I called to see what was happening (494-8220, talked to Kathleen--Carolyn was out for the day) and she told me that they wouldn't have people ranked until May. Maybe they are running late this year or maybe carolyn would have more reliable info. Honestly, I really hope you are right and we can find out something next week.... 😕

You know, I think they're interviewing later this year. I'm not interviewing until next week, and I had the option of interviewing as late as March 20th or so. Maybe they stopped interviewing in February last year, which is why they started taking people off the hold list earlier. I admit I'm being selfish here, but I'm glad they're not taking people off the hold list until interviews finish -- my one consolation for OHSU taking so freaking long to do anything on my application is that they're non-rolling. I agree it still sucks for you guys, though, to have to wait so long. For those of us late interviewees, I guess it doesn't really make a difference whether we're on the hold list or not because we probably wouldn't know anything until May anyway.

Personally, I'm just hoping I don't get stuck on the waitlist without knowing anything until July.

Keep us updated if you hear anything more about when they are taking people of hold. Maybe Carolyn will have more info if somebody wants to try and get a hold of her.

NICE! Congrats BK! Thats a hell of an accomplishment. How does the fam feel about you going all that way?
