Ok, so I have a 25 mcat and I want to apply to DO schools in the Spring. Should I stick with the 25 or apply in the spring and take the april mcat? I dont' want to go below 25. Now if I apply in the spring and put im taking the mcat again, will the schools wait until I get my april scores before they review My applications? Or will they see the 25 already? Thanks

Why are you waiting until spring to apply for DO school? I was accepted with a 25. I think most DO schools accept that if they still have spots...but the sooner you apply, the better.

well I did apply, but it was late....in late January...thus, I am focusing on the next application cycle.

the application cycle starts in June.. so if you take the april mcat your scores will arrive like 2 weeks after the app goes online.

but your score is ok, and its only worth taking over if you are busting your butt and doing alot better on the practice tests..
if the rest of your app is good, a 25 should be enough...

As tori said earlier you can get into DO school with a 25, BUT your GPA should be decent and you should apply early. I think if you don't mind spending the money, go ahead and send your secondaries to a few schools. It may not be too late. If not, wait til June and apply as early as possible. Whatever you decide, good luck. I know how frustrating the whole application cycle can be...

IF your grades are decent it may be more beneficial to do some unique extracurricular/volunteer stuff rather than spend time studying to retake the MCAT. In my interview my MCAT was never mentioned but we talked about all of the extracurricular and volunteer experiences I had listed.

You should be totally fine then! If I were you I wouldn't take the MCAT again. I've taken it twice and it only went up 1 point the second time after MUCH more preparation! and you definitely don't want to risk it going down....

Don't take it again you'll be fine

If you are appling in June I would take it again. When I took it the first time I was disappointed in my score because I knew I had it in me to do better. Well, I retook it last August and increased four points. I think those four points are what landed me so many interviews this year.

DO schools actually make it policy to take your highest MCAT score from various tests as proof that you have the capability to do well (i.e. i take the test three times: 7v, 8p, 10b then 4v, 10p, 6b and then 10v, 7p, 6v)...DO schools will look at that and say "10v, 10p, 10b" for the most part. They dont hold you to the standard of "last test counts" or "worst test counts" that some other schools do.

I don't believe that is policy. Some schools will only look at your last scores. Others will average the two or more scores and still others will look at the highs on each test. You must be aware of what each individual school does, as not all do the same.
