Oklahoma Interview Day

Hi everyone,

What is the interview format for Univ. of Oklahoma dental school ? Is it a group interview or 1-on-1 interview ? What is the general interview day like ?
Any other advice would be appreciated.

like cmirabal25 said, they do three one-on-one interviews, of which one is generally with a student (but not always).

If you interview in the morning, you'll start with your interviews (which last about 20-30 minutes each). There are generally 2 to 3 other interviewees there as well and you rotate between interviewers. They usually throw in a tour and then you have lunch with the afternoon interviewees and a few students. Dr. Jones will also give a little presentation about the school and such.

I was actually a little worried about the interviews as mine is coming up this Saturday. The e-mail says they're 45 minutes a piece...which is insane. Anybody have one interview for 45 minutes? Seems like you'll have talked about most everything after 20-30 minutes let alone 45!

it seems like a lot of time but mine go that long and then some if you get in a good flow the time moves easily

They WILL NOT last 45 minutes at OU, don't worry about it. They may state that but will likely still fall in the 30 minute range.

It's VERY laid back... not at all intimidating.

ok sweet..I wasn't really worried as I don't have a problem in interviews and I'm a good public speaker and whatnot...45 minutes just sounded ridiculous

Don't listen to this guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about! lol jk. He's right, OU interviews are pretty relaxed. Know your application like the back of your hand. And if you said you can play the guitar, you'd better start practicing a few licks

like "Why did you choose your major?" or "If this happened, what would you do?" or or there other types..?

Also, is it possible for someone to PM me the interview email Oklahoma sends? I didn't get it because the school says it doesn't send emails that far in advance. Of course, you can erase your name, etc. I'm hoping to get it in advance so I can start planning. Thanks a bunch!

There is nothing to plan... the letter just tells you which door to get in with and how to park lol. As for the interview itself. It really depend on the person. I had 1 that asked 1 hour of ethics questions 1 didnt ask a single question 1 was standard.
