I took a language (ASL 1) at my community college in my junior year of high school because Color Guard took too much time out of my schedule to take a language at my high school. However, I goofed hard and got a D in that class because I missed an entire 100 point test, could not make it up.

Now that grade is showing up on my transcript because I go to that same college 1 1/2 years later. It's lowering my cumulative gpa by about .1, so instead of it being 3.94 it's 3.84 by the time I transfer to a 4 year. Will the other 2 years I have in UG cover this mistake? I'm doing really well in my classes and pre-reqs so far, and doing some EC's. Not too worried about that. Just about that 1 bad grade.

Your gpa seems fine so far. 1 D won't kill you.

You'll be fine. Your recent excellent grades demonstrate that the old You isn't the current You. Upward grade trends are very reassuring.

If they know you did poorly in sign language, how can they expect you to communicate at the all-deaf MMI station? It is certainly the final nail in your application coffin.

It’s not an old highschool grade, it’s an old college grade... not sure what’s up with that title

It's dual enrollment, meaning it was on my high school and college transcript. It applies to both

During application season last year, I had an interviewer bring up a C I got in organic chemistry 8 years earlier. No mention of the graduate organic chemistry courses I'd aced afterward, the master's degree I'd gotten, or the five years of full-time research. If a D in an ASL class you'd taken several years prior is a sticking point for a certain med school, then the hell with 'em.
