I have obtained 4 LOR's between April and July of 2012. I ended up not applying. If I want to apply this upcoming cycle (2013), do I need to have my LOR writers update the letters?

My pre-med committee recommends that I don't use letters that are older than one year. However, contacting the LOR writers and asking them to update my letters is something I truly don't want to go through.

Please advice.

There are only an extremely low amount of medical schools that require (not sure about DO schools actually) a letter within one year.
