Old volunteer experience?

Hi all,

I had a really amazing experience at the end of high school wherein I went to Nicaragua. Not only was this a life changing experience for me, but I know that most of the time schools really like this type of experience.

Advisors tell me not to put any experience pre-college on apps. I really want to put this. Will this be a problem or will it be looked down upon for including pre-college volunteer work?

You could probably write about it in your PS if it was really life changing. Otherwise, it doesn't count towards volunteer hours if it was done during high school.
