Hi all,

D4 with interest in OMFS. Long story short, been thinking of OMFS for a while but have had a tough time in school which has negatively affected my ability to make myself a strong applicant. With my current CBSE and resume, I have no chance of getting into any residency if I apply this summer. I think it would be a waste to apply when my application is definitely not going to be looked at. I'm looking into strengthening my application as much as possible during my D4 year and just applying to non-cat internships instead. I was wondering if this would be a red flag in any way, as well as if anyone has any advice.

What’s your CBSE? 4 or 6? Are you willing to move anywhere?

Around 55 after going through maybe 50-60% of BnB, no uworld. Would love to be somewhere on east coast (MA/CT/NY/NJ/DE/VA/NC) though willing to move almost anywhere, preferably not too rural

Hunker down to study, do the non-cat year, and you should be good to get in the next round.

So you are "kind of committed" to OMS? Only if it is east coast and not to rural? Not sure what that means but I certainly would not put that in a personal statement....

I'd go anywhere but my preference is those areas. If I can get in at all I'd be ecstatic!

I made a similar mistake while studying for the CBSE. BnB is important for developing your knowledge base but you MUST do questions. It made all the difference for my second attempt. Doing Uworld will improve your score significantly
