Introducing omfsdata.com!
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share this website I recently built that I hope will be helpful to those applying to OMFS in this or future cycles!
First, there's an interactive map and table of every accredited OMFS program that you can use to browse programs. The number of spots, program director, website, and interview dates (from last year) are included for your information. You can filter by what you care about (4- vs. 6-year, region, and so on), select the ones you're interested in, and download them as a spreadsheet. Hope this can be a tool to help applicants stay organized!
Second, I thought it would be fun to consolidate historic, self-reported data from "Official OMS Match Results" threads over the last few years to do a data analysis on what actually matters for matching. A few things that came out of it (keep in mind that SDN match posts are heavily skewed towards successful applicants!):
If you are a current OMFS resident and did NOT post your match stats on SDN from 2020-2027, please consider contributing your own match stats to an anonymous dataset: Contribute Data · OMFS Data
The biggest limitation of my analysis is that the data on SDN threads are almost entirely success stories. People post when they match, but not when they don't. We don't yet have a representative dataset about who matches and who doesn't, which is the question most of you actually care about. I'm especially hoping to collect some data from people who didn't match, or who matched after a prior cycle or a non-cat year.
Happy to answer questions and hear any feedback people might have for the site! What would make it more useful/helpful? Should I do this for more specialities? 😉

- CBSE buys you interviews. I think everyone already knew this, but it's cool to see it in a formal analysis
- Class rank and research matter independently of CBSE score
- Applying broadly works...you get roughly 1 extra interview invite per 4 extra programs applied to
