I just got a letter from UMDNJ saying i was rejected and I haven't even taken my DAT yet. I am scheduled to take it on 9/30, next week. They said my sciences grades weren't good enough. I got a 4.0 in a post bach program at Drexel Med. I took bio and chem freshman year in undergrad and didnt do great but retook them at drexel and got all A's. Are they kidding. I double checked my app and i definitely said i was taking the dat in Sept. of 09. Is this possible.

is it necessary to double post your arrogance in the pre-dental and DAT forum?

An adcom told me the number reason why they rejected some people was poor science grades freshman year. You cant expect post grad work to completely erase your first 4 yrs of school.

The 2 titles "are they kidding" and "omg" make it seem like "how dare this school reject this gift from heaven". Sorry if i came off attacking, but maybe the way i read both posts made you sound pretty arrogant.

Anybody can retake classes and get A's the 2nd time around. Your first time around does, to a degree, reflect how you handle a lot of new material. I know dental schools can be forgiving of an bad semester. I would recommend contacting the school to have them look your trend over the last few years. I would try to come off with a more humble attitude though. Good luck

but my application wasnt even complete because i havnt even taken the dat yet. i thought they dont even look at applications until they are complete.

Maybe that is a default letter that goes to anybody who does not make the initial GPA filter screen, a combo of your undergrad and post bach. Not sure.

my overall gpa is a 3.44. i didnt think that was terrible. especially with the 4.0 from drexel that i busted ass for.
