Hello, I have recently encountered my desires to be a PA, and was thinking about switching to Public Health major...I was wondering if anyone could make a nice outline of what I should be doing as an undergraduate right now to set me on the right path...Thanks!

1. Shadow some PA's working in different fields. This will give you a feel for life as a PA to see if it's what you really want. It will also meet PA schools' requirements for shadowing time.
2. Review the required pre-reqs for a variety of PA schools so you know what courses you'll have to take.
3. Get health care experience: options include CNA, tech at a hospital, prehospital as an EMT.
4. Once you're getting close to applying, visit PA schools you'd like to attend. Get a feel for the school. Take copies of your transcripts and work experience, sit down with someone in admissions and ask if you are a good candidate for their school.

Good luck.
