Hello everyone,

I am filling out my primary application and I would like to mention how art has always been my hobby in the experiences section. I'm stuck on what to write down under the title though... I don't want to call myself an "artist" because I am not pursuing art seriously and only draw for fun. I draw on occasion and when I'm inspired by something. What is an appropriate term to use?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think it's misleading to call yourself an artist since you enjoy making art. If it is under extracurricular I think it's clear enough that you're not a working artist. Good luck though.

Art aficionado?

Back in the early 1800s, English borrowed aficionado from the past participle of the Spanish verb aficionar, which means "to inspire affection." That verb comes from the Spanish noun afición, meaning "affection." Both Spanish words trace to the Latin affectio (which is also an ancestor of the English word affection).
