Looking for some advice from any of the senior forum goers out there.
I'm currently working as a hospitalist, and looking to apply to a fellowship for either Onc or General Med. I would be happy doing either. My longterm goals are to be a clinical researcher and I would definitely get a biostats/epi related masters degree in fellowship (in fact, that might be the only reason I would do a General Med fellowship). Onc would probably be a longer fellowship, but would I wrong in assuming there would more job opportunities in Onc compared to General Med. Seems like there are only about 10-20 real Academic General Med departments in the country, while every hospital and their mother is trying to be solid in Onc. I would be looking for a 70% research/30% clinical split.
Appreciate any replies.
