Infection with hepatitis D virus (HDV; delta agent) can occur simultaneously
with infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) or in a carrier of hepatitis
B virus because HDV is a defective virus that requires HBV for its
replicative function. What serologic test can be used to determine whether
a patient with HDV is an HBV carrier?
a. HBsAg
b. HBc IgM
c. HBeAg
d. HBs IgM
e. HBs IgG

a. HBsAg-if a patient HBsAg is the first serologic marker, developing between 6 weeks and 6 months following infection, but prior to onset of symptoms. Presence of HBsAg in serum may indicate acute HBV infection, chronic HBV infection, or asymptomatic carrier state
b. HBc IgM-not protective=show infection in window period

c. HBeAg-show high risk for infection
d. HBs IgM-immunity
e. HBs IgG
-immunity

-immunity

HEY EVEN I THOGUHT A IS THE ANSWER.. BUT THE ANSWER IS B...

In a chronic HBV carrier,
there would be no HB core IgM antibody, whereas it would be present
in a new HBV infection. The HBe antigen could be present in either an HBV
carrier or in acute infection. HBsAg would be present in either a new infection
or in the carrier state, while HBsAb would not be present in either case

I DIDNT GET THAT...

OF WHT I KNOW IS

HBSAG: ACUTEINF+CARRIER.
HBSAB:IMMUNITY TO INFECTION SO NO HBV INFECTION.HENCE NO HDV
HBCAG:ONLY IN HEPATOCYTES
HBCAB:WINDOW PERIOD+RECENT INFECTION.
HBEAG:ACUTE AND HIGH INFECTIVE STATE.
HBEAB😛ARTIAL RECOVERY AND LOW INFECTIVITY.

SO THIS QUESTION IS ASKING FOR A MARKER FOR PERCIESELY CARRIER STATE. (S ANTIGEN CAN ALSO INDICATE ACUTE STATE).... IS HBCAB A MARKER FOR CARRIER STATE OTHER THAN ITS IMPORTANCE IN WINDOW PERIOD?

I STILL HAVE LITTLE CLUE.

ok.. i checked it..(anything but study embryology yak!!)

Inactive carrier state (3-6 months)
  1. Characteristics
    1. Viral replication stops and transaminases normalize
    2. Possibly infectious and convalescent stage
    3. Conversion to Stage 4: 3% per year
  2. HBsAg Negative
  3. xHBc IgM Antibody Positive
  4. xHBc IgG Antibody Positive
  5. xHBe IgG Antibody Positive

Hey Thats Really Well Put.. Yes It Does Fall In Place.gud Job!
So Here They Are Asking Precisely For Hb Carrier State Which Shows Hbsag/hbcab/hbeab.only Cand E Ab Precisely Mark Carrier State...
