I'm planning my study schedule, and I have about a month from when I take my last final to when I take boards. I have already taken nbme2 and uw assessment 1. I was thinking I'd like to take the rest of the nbmes and uw assessment 2 before the test, just to see as many questions as possible and gauge my studies as I go. As I'm making my schedule, I currently have the last nbme scheduled for five days out from the big day. What do you think?

(also, if I'm to leave out one nbme, which do you find to the least valuable?)

Thanks!!!

This is pretty much the same thing that I am doing. I am worried about the last assesment and how long before the real deal, because if I dont do as good I can still study but if I take my last nbme a couple days prior then i might flip. Good luck

Hi guys. So I should preface this by stating that I haven't received my score yet and it will definitely NOT be in the wonder/lust-inspiring range of your typical SDN lurkers. At my school there are some who think multiple practice tests are a great idea and others within the administration that feel the time is better spent studying since at least the legal NBME exams don't provide you with the answers and the boot-leg ones still don't explain the answers.

I took an NBME/USWorld assessment every week throughout my studies and really thought it helped. For one, it kept me feeling like I was really improving since my scores went up consistently and then it also pushed me to continue working hard since my score still wasn't where I wanted it. I took the final NBME (form 6) five days out and thought this was an okay amount of time. I had hoped to take it about 8 days out but the website was down that weekend. I would definitely wait and take the later forms (5 and 6) later on in your study window. I felt like Forms 1 and 2 were a bit too much about straight memorization and that form 6 at least (form 5 was too much of a shell shock to ponder since that's the test my school has us do at the beginning of studying) was very representative. We'll see once I actually get my score. My exam did have a fair amount of rote memorization/you know it or you don't questions of course but it also seemed very "thinky"/clinical cases based.
