  1. Medical Student
Pre-medical student here, I have a friend that is over 40 and wishes to change career paths. Hope the pharm forum is useful for my questions!

-He is working full-time retail right now, and recently became interested in the pharm work they do in the internal pharmacy. He is looking for an online pharmacy school?, is there one...?
From what I understand is that only PharmD online courses are available for already practicing pharmacists.

-He has a Bachelor's of Science in CSS overseas, do schools usually take that?
From what I understand, a Bachelor's is not required.

-Does he need to take pre-reqs (intro bio, gen chem, ochem, microecon...)

-Does he need volunteering hrs, if so, do they have to pharm targetted? What kind do ya'll do?

I would imagine these are dumb questions, but the pharm admissions is pretty different from med, and I just wanted to get a second opinion!
Thanks for your help!

2 online programs: Creighton and LECOM.
You have to have the prereqs to apply. Bachelors is not normally required. I have no idea about transferring foreign credits. Each school's prereqs are a little different, so you have to check with each school (but if he's never taken OChem and all that, he will have to take them).
Volunteer hours are not normally required. Sometimes shadowing hours are required. Check with each school (not required for either of the online schools last time I checked).

I'm sure the naysayers will be here soon...

Just curious, why the switch from CSS (I'm guessing Computing and Software Systems) to pharmacy? His major and skillset is in very high demand. If he were to switch to pharmacy then he would trade a lucrative degree and career for one that is already saturated and getting worse each year as more pharmacy schools open and chain retail pharmacies merge. Add on to that terrible working conditions in pharmacy (both retail and non-retail), $200k+ loans, and 4 years of lost earnings opportunity cost.
