Only 3 schools on my list!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you are not URM, I think Howard may not really consider you, even if your stats are well above their averages. I believe Buffalo, OSU, UNC, UNLV offer in state tuition after the first year, though some of them may not be very out of state friendly. If you are willing to consider schools that are out of state friendly enough but don't offer in state tuition after the first year, then you can consider Michigan, Marquette, Pitt. If you are willing to consider private schools, then Boston, Tufts, NYU, USC, Penn.

You have a competitive GPA and DAT.

You have a competitive GPA and DAT.
Average DAT for matriculation is 20.4, so they're right there.

OP, 3 schools is too little and too much of a gamble. Your GPA is high but does not match your DAT score. I think you should apply to a few private schools, like LECOM, Tufts, Touro, Meharry, UNE etc. if you want to stay on the east coast/in that area, or MWU AZ & IL, Case etc if you don't mind moving far.
For public schools, maybe WVU or Kentucky or Louisville?
Don't add Howard if you're not URM.

I'm not well versed with east coast schools at all, but I think 3 schools is way too little with a 20AA. I'd shoot for at least 10-12. It's better to have applied to tons of schools and get tons of interviews and hopefully tons of acceptances, than to apply to too little and have to reapply again next year.

Good luck!

👍 I think you're good, but atleast 2 more like minimum. If you know anyone at those 3 school that works there than your chances will increase. For example, I only applied to 1 school bc I knew...

Thank you guys! I understand my GPA and DAT score don't correlate... tbh I had so much anxiety when studying for the DAT that I'm glad I didn't get a lower average:blackeye:

I will definitely look into Meharry, UNE, and most likely will add Kentucky and Louisville.

Oh how I wish I had connections:joyful:

I dont think you need to apply to more than 10 schools. I had an 18AA and my oGPA was 3.83. I live in New England and applied to UNE, Tufts, BU, UConn, and 2 schools in NY as extras. I was accepted into UNE and BU.

Thanks for the reply! Did you get an interview from UCONN by any chance? It looks like they're pretty competitive for OOS and those in New England have a higher chance than us...

I did not, but I wasn't expecting it lol I'm not competitive enough for an OOS student there, I was being ambitious.
