I have a college degree with a 3.7 GPA. I have only taken General Biology I with lab and General Biology II without a lab. Should I retake Bio II with a lab(I made an A) or take a different Biology course? What courses would be suitable?

I was planning on taking chemistry 1 and 2 over the summer, followed by ochem and physics. Should I take the biology class with ochem1 and physics1? Thanks.

Depending on your school, you can usually just take the lab separate from the lecture portion. The majority of schools you will be applying to most likely require at least two bio courses with a lab. You could do that, or take something like physio/anatomy with a lab. In my opinion, that would be more worth your time.

Many schools will expect you to have the second semester lab, so if you can sign up for it independently, good. If not, you have to retake the entire thing with a lab included.

I noticed the local community college offers summer chemistry in the morning and "Anatomy and Physiology I" (4hours, lecture/lab) in the evening. Do you think I'd be okay taking those classes?

My final transcript would have.. in the order I obtained them..

From my regional private college..
General Biology I (3hours) (A)
General Biology I lab (1hour) (A)
General Biology II (3hours) (A)

From CLEP/DSST..
Substance Abuse (3hours) (Pass)
Comprehensive Health (3hours) (Pass)

From community college..
General Chemistry I with lab (4hours)
General Chemistry II with lab (4hours)
Anatomy and Physiology I with lab (4hours)

From local state school..
Ochem I with lab (4hours)
Ochem II with lab (4hours)
Physics I with lab (4hours)
Physics II with lab (4hours)

This should leave me with.. (not including the CLEP/DSST)
English 12 Hours
General Biology 7 hours
Anatomy and Physiology 4 hours
General Chem 8 hours
Organic Chem 8 hours
Physics 8 hours

It also might be possible to take Microbiology with lab instead of Anatomy and Physiology. Any difference or preference considering my lack of General Bio2 lab?

Physiology will help you with the mcat and some or most schools will consider as bio...

I would be cautious of saying "most" schools will consider it biology. They will in terms of GPA calculations, but I've seen many schools not consider it so when it comes to replacing the general biology requirement.

I noticed several schools recommend for AP courses(mine isn't AP) taking upper level classes instead of retaking the class. Do you think a Microbiology or Genetics class (both have a lab) would be an acceptable replacement? Hopefully, I will be allowed to take the General Biology lab; but I haven't gotten approval yet.

I really don't want to risk retaking biology and harming my sGPA if I can avoid it.

If the school accepts them as replacement, yes.

Odd question, didn't wanna start another thread for it.

If you send off an application in June, will you know if you're accepted far enough in advance to take any necessary classes I might have missed? Say i apply to a program that requires biochem, could I wait until accepted that medical school before taking the class?

If you're applying, you have to list it as a planned course. If you get accepted to a school that doesn't require it, you may skip it unless your acceptance is contingent upon finishing all courses you listed. As for taking the course itself, it may be done at any time before matriculation.
