Is FSH or LH the hormone that induces maturation of the secondary oocyte? I thought it was FSH, but in one of Barron's test's they claim it is LH.

I believe its LH as well, from my understanding LH causes the rupture of the follicle(secondary oocyte inside) and release of the secondary oocyte (now called ovum), ruptured follicle --> corpus LUTEUM

edit: this is the transition from ovulation @ the end of follicular phase and into luteal phase

can anyone please confirm this?

I think your right, but in Barron's it says that after Meiosis I, the primary oocyte is dormant and it does not form a secondary oocyte until initiated by FSH (at puberty). Then comes Meosis II and the ovum.

it says after meiosis I?, isnt it halted in meiosis I? (prophase?)

i think the key here is:

maturation of primary oocyte meiosis prophase I *in follicle* --FSH--> secondary oocyte *in follicle*

maturation of secondary oocyte meiosis metaphase II *in follicle* --LH--> secondary oocyte meiosis metaphase II *released from follicle*

then obv -- secondary oocyte meiosis metaphase II --sperm fert---> secondary oocyte meiosis from metaphase II continues etc

edit: so ya in the question i think the main hint was maturation of not maturation into...still a poorly worded question

please if someone else can confirm this
