I just submitted to MSUCOM and realize that they require biochemistry. I haven't taken it and I dont plan on taking it (didn't list it in next semester's projected coursework.) will they even look at my app? OMG i also just realized two other schools won't take a C- in a course. I got a C- in phys 1 and am currently taking phy2 (have an A so far). If they don't accept the grade will they even consider my app????

Pre-reqs need to be completed by the time of matriculation not application. You will receive a conditional acceptance (pending your completion of the courses) if you are accepted for admission.

I agree. I think they're pretty strict about that otherwise they would have to make exceptions for everyone. If you are accepted there you would have to retake.

how long does that conditional status last? like i'm a senior and next semester I'll be retaking organic chem (got a D) and i won't be taking the phys 1, so i guess if i take in summer it'll be ok?? But really, how much do they consider apps for admission when I technically didn't meet their standards for two of the pre reqs?? Why pick someone who needs to do more stuff when I can get a student that has all the stuff finished and passed. 😎

I have a conditional acceptance--- So, I just have to pass Biochem and Genetics next semester---

As far as choosing someone who has the prereq's done over someone who doesn't--- I'm not sure it would matter that much as long as your grades and Comm. service is better...

I wonder why MSUCOM didn't say anything about my acceptance being conditional. I am in Biochem right now.

if you don't mind, what are ur stats/ what were the grades in those courses and where did you apply/get accepted to?

MSUCOM will check your application for biochem, they checked mine for a different class that i'm taking in the spring and sent me a note saying I was currently missing it

So wouldn't it be advantageous for someone with a 4.0 to put off two semesters of orgo (or biochem, or some other difficult course) until after acceptance (conditional acceptance) knowing they only have to pass it and not ruin their 4.0? 😎

my gpa was around 3.5, 31 MCAT i think-- I only applied (and got accepted) to MSU for DO-I withdrew all of my MD applications after I recieved my MSUCOM acceptance. I haven't taken biochem or Genetics yet.... thats for the winter...

Yeah good luck on the MCAT though.
