aloha,

i just found out, to no real surprise, that i received an "incomplete" in my inorganic chemistry class... i realize this is my first-ever incomplete, but there are some complicating factors that pour salt into the wound, so to speak. essentially, this course was the final requirement for my major, as i am in my fourth-year of college. i would probably get more out of the course if i just take an "unsatisfactory" and retake it next fall, as opposed to "completing the incomplete," but i have issues with the flaky instructor.

please enlighten me as to the consequences of having an incomplete on my academic record. apart from this isolated mishap, i feel like med schools will either love me or hate me, based on the total package.

thanks for y'alls advice.

Happy New Year!

If you don't do something about that incomplete next semester...you just bought your ticket to an F. I suggest you finish off this course next semester rather than to risk that gpa lowering F grade...seems like the most sensible resolution to me...UNLESS..you were already doing poorly in the course? So poor that you already had an F and there is no chance for improvement?...then well...I guess you couldn't beat taking the F.

Cya.

The incomplete would fly to well with med schools. If you wait to retake it in the fall, med schools would know your grade before you apply (assuming that you are planning on applying over this summer). And after an initial incomplete, they would probably be very curious as to what grade you get. Try to finish it up now or next semester so it is one less deterant on your app.
