OOS Applicant Question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you are applying to an OOS state school, then yes because realistically they'd like you to practice in their state. Downright saying that you're going to go back home may not be ideal. However, if you are applying to a private schools, then I dont think it matters as much. What I would do if I were you is just say you are looking to practice in underserved areas because you grew up in one. You dont have to specify where and dental schools will still love that you're trying to give back to underserved people.

When applying as OOS applicant would it be disadvantageous to state that you plan on returning to your home state to practice in rural underserved areas?

Just wondering. Thanks!

No, I said this on both my aadsas and supplemental applications for OOS schools and none of the schools seemed to have a problem with it.
