Before I begin this post, if anyone has anything nasty and mean to say please do not post. I really need advice. I have a 3.6 overall GPA and a 3.7 science GPA and a 28 DAT. My fiance lives in a state where practically no OOSERS get accepted and it is my dream to move there. I know that there is a very low probability that I will be accepted, but I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to make myself more appealing to the school. Also, if there is a way that I plan to practice there after I graduate in my application.

first of all, sorry this is not really an advice..
but I say, just trust ur DAT score and good, solid-high gpa.
I don't know what state ur referring to.. but im an international student, and I'm just trusting my gpa and dat to see if i can make ucla.

oh but if you didn't apply this cycle yet, then maybe apply for research work? even one publication would be very good.

28 DAT... (if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all)...

Deep breath...

Okay, here we go. With scores/gpa like that I would focus on NOT being a total tool in an interview. You will most likely get an interview,so make sure that they know your desire to come to THEIR state. If they don't take alot of oosers and you know that it is a long shot, don't expect to hear anything back and hopefully you will be surprised.

What state are you talking about? That may be a little more helpful if you are looking for advice 😀

I see you are a gator/gator fan so I will try to help you 👍

Louisiana?

move to the state to be with your partner marry them live there for 2-3 years then reapply. this will show you want to be in that state. even if you get accepted you may want to move out of that state and go somewhere else. I know a class mate who did that. they moved somewhere to be with someone, got into the state dental school which doesnt take OOSER's but since they moved there they became a instate student, and in the end went somewhere else because it was a better education in their mine.
but nothing in the game of applying to dental school is a guarantee, except for you will spend a lot of money trying to get in.

Thank you everyone for the advice. The state that I am referring to is Texas.

I bet you can get in there. People have told me they have OOS classmates there.

You have awesome stats.

You definitely shouldn't be worried. UT Houston and San Antonio might only accept 0-1 students OOS but you would probably have a good chance at Baylor. They accept 10ish OOS each class. As long as you applied early I'm sure youll have a good shot.

If the only dental school you want to attend is in Texas, why not apply as OOS this round, move to Texas immediately and start working there. If you don't get in, apply next year as in state.

You're DAT isn't nearly high enough

I am not a liar! You are just jealous!

If you really had a 28 you would realize you would have more than a small probablility to get in to a school with most likely the highest DAT score ever received

Actually, people can be very intelligent and be very book smart, but when it comes to common sense they have absolutely none. Also, even smart people can work themselves up and have self doubt even if they know statistically they are better than most. The mind can play with you.
