Tomorrow there is an open house at a dental school, it is kind of far away from my house so I want someone to go with me. Is it wierd if I bring my dad to a dental school open house?

I don't see why not. I had schools extend the invitation for interviewees to bring a guest, whether it was a spouse, bf/gf, or parent. I had a couple parents show up at one of my interviews, so I don't think this will be a problem at all with it being an open house.

I agree that it shouldn't be an issue. Although you are using it as a bit of comfort, the school doesn't know that and will simply think that your parent cares enough about your eduation to visit prospective schools with you. Nothing wrong with that!
