operating system of the MCAT computers?

XP professional... haha I noticed this

I mean if your hacking the exam... let me know? AHAHAHH

thank you, dman.

it matters cuz i'm inept at using windows (i run linux), so i'll spend my time on practice CBTs on a windows machine/boot. don't want the slightest thing to go wrong..heh

pretty sure the OS won't matter, as you'll just be clicking and typing the whole time.

Yah, the prometric screen locks access to any application that could otherwise be installed on machine. All you see is the prometric application which looks like the AAMC practice tests. This is why many don' notice the OS (nothing to indicate what the OS is like a taskbar etc). However for the truly attentive it is a windows based system

It shouldn't matter - the testing app runs in a full screen window. Since the practice exams are web-based, you should be able to do them on your machine just fine, and they're exactly the same as the actual test.

Maybe he wants the cursor to look the same? Lol I forget what the cursor looks like in Linux

I think it is imperceptibly less pointy

Severe disadvantage for sure. Disregard my last post OP, you'll probably see a 5 point drop due to this problem.

hey guys,

im jw is there a personal timer on the corner on the real MCATs similar to the AAMC practice tests? how are we timed?
and do we have our own self-pace (i.e. being able to use up however much of my break time (10 mins), or is there a general pace everyone in the room has to follow?

Thank you~

The breaks are "liberal" as I took at least 12 mins/break, people come and go at random times as well, some just skip the break because they are gods. Don't be a douche about it, and you'll be fine.

Also, of course there's a timer lol.

wait you can take more than 10min/break?
what happens if you go over the limit?

Nothing, absolutely nothing. The screen just turns to the page you get right before each section, with instructions; if you don't click the "next" button, the test will not start.

Still, be reasonable about it XD
