In order to be board certified in ophthalmology you must pass both the written and oral ophthalmology board exams. The written qualifying exam in ophthalmology must be passed before continuing to the oral board exam. Important dates to note for the written qualifying exam are:

April 9, 2013 – Date of the next ophthalmology written qualifying exam.
March – August 1, 2012, and August 2 – October 1, 2012 (late) – Dates applications for the ophthalmology written qualifying exam will be accepted.
Late January 2013 – Date by which the scheduling information will be sent.

In addition, the course will help participants to prepare for OKAPS, ABO, and maintenance of certification examinations. The program covers the important clinical principles of ophthalmology and updates any changes to the clinical protocol. It also reviews accepted clinical practices.
