Hey all,
Anyone know how important it is where you did your rotating for ophtho internships/residencies? I went to UF for school and did well there but then wanted to come home after school and chose an internship more based on location than prestige. How much can I expect that to affect my chances at getting specialty internship/residency? How important is it where you did your rotating? Thanks

Ophtho isn't my specialty but I would assume that your letters of rec are more important than prestige, but they sometimes kinda go hand in hand since the 'big name' doctors tend to be at 'big name' places. I would make darn sure that your internship has an ophthalmologist or if you're already an intern that you've pursued a relationship with one close to your location if you want to do ophtho. I've heard that is super competitive, it's often out of the match, and I bet who you know/who's name is on the bottom of your letter is very important.
