Systematic reviews are relatively easy and you should be able to accomplish that during the summer. As a med student any publication is respectable. I would work on that, finish it, and do more. Make sure you finish the project though. Many trainees start projects, present at a meeting, but end up not writing the paper.

However, meta-analyses are very difficult - where you combine the stats from multiple papers with forest plots etc., and that will require a statistician if you're like most of us and not one. Good luck!
