Good morning guys..or afternoon for some? I just wanted a few of your opinions about calling the school for an update on applications. I know they said not to call, but I am getting anxious and wonder since I have not gotten a reply from most school. (Trying to not think its because of my stats..) But I wanted to ask, if I wanted to call what should I ask them? I afraid if I ask "Hello can you give me an update on my application?" ; they might just tell me to "Sorry we can not give any updates on phones." What would be the best way to approach them?

Cheers! Have a wonderful day everyone.

It wouldn't hurt to call. Some schools are willing to give you a status update, some will tell you to wait until later, and others won't give one at all. Nothing really lost by calling a few schools.

Send an e-mail first. If they would not reply, then call and say that you are calling because they did not respond

If they specifically asked you not to call, do not call. Otherwise, go for it if it'll help your sanity.

Thanks guys for the reply! I'll send an email and see how to proceed form there 🙂

if they said not to, i wouldn't. i did send an email to a school last year saying they were my #1 choice and gave them an update on my application and what i was doing the last few months. got an interview an hour later.

Personal story: I got an interview at Columbia, and not NYU. Called NYU and told them that I'll be interviewing at Columbia and if they could review my application again. NYU called me back the next day, and the rest was history! If I didn't make that phone call, I would have never met my wife.
