Hi everyone... I'm new here...
I was thinking of trying to get into a PA grogram. I currently have a bachelor degree in biology from 2008. I am getting into the Respiratory Therapy program at SJVC and will be finished end of next year. After that I wanted to work for about 2 years to gain more experience (and to pay back loans). During that time maybe retaking courses that may have expiredand volunteer at a hospital. Then applying to PA program at SJVC in Visalia, CA. I have a 3.0 gpa from my bachelor but also took a few science courses after that may have bumped up my overall gpa. Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance?... Also I read many other threads of people saying that the degrees of PA doesn't really matter once you pass the pance and are out working... So what are the different degrees for anyways?... thank you for your time 😀

Ask this question over at the pa forum where 15,000 pa's will see it instead of the 5 who visit here.
also the program director at sjvc is a regular poster there.

ooo sorry I'm still new here and don't know where to post yet... could you help me out where I should post? thank you

If you have a BS why would you want to settle with an A.S. from SJVC?

My professor of anatomy/physio was a professor at SJVC, and suggested to look at other programs. Not that is a bad one, but since its fairly new, there is more to offer out there.

Also, why not apply to a Masters program PA? You got your BS already. Dont go into debt <60k for PA at SJVC, when you can get a Masters for the same or less amount.

P.S. I am from Visalia/Fresno area.

Well I was going to apply into the masters and bachelors program in California but then by the time I apply, I would have been out of school for a few years already. I don't think I would be that competitive anymore and also I heard that once you graduate with a PA degree and pass the PANCE then the degree you graduate with doesn't matter much anymore.
