i'm trying to get free advice before i go to the denstist =p. I dont have health insurance any more so im hesitant about going to the dentist till i find a new one. I'm trying to figure out why 2 my front 2 teeth upper ones, im not dental btw =p, are yellow, while all my other ones are white! So i tried the professional whitenening crest, but ddint work just got everything else whiter.. This is driving me crazy because i brush regularly floss all that good stuff and its been 4 months like this now. I did have braces like a year ago, and wear a retainer at nite that kinda makes me bleed whenever i wake up i find some blood in between my 2 front teeth, it closes my gap down,i dont know if that could be it or what. I think i need a full operation to remove a muscle there to get my gap to completely close.
Alright thx for any replies

Could be something called calcific metamorphosis, but to break out the broken record, "go see a dentist to find out for sure."

Oh, and my opinion on teeth: they're great, everyone should have a set. 😀

i know you dont really know anything about my case, but do you know of a price range to fix this?

around 10-15 thousand

First of all, this sounds like a cosmetic complaint so insurance isn't going to pay for this anyway. It's hard to understand what you're talking about. Maybe you want bleaching. Maybe you just now realized that every tooth is a slightly different shade of yellow-white (which is normal).

Does anyone else notice or do you stare in the mirror a lot? Or do you just want your teeth to be toilet-bowl-white (which is abnormal) like everyone else?

no its noticeable, there not really really yellow, but its noticeable, I just dont get why all my other teeth whiten but these two dont. I cant think of any trauma other than my retainer making my gums bleed right in the spot where it closes my gap which is between my two front teeth.

Hi,
A quick note on a comment below about cost: $10-15K is way way too high, unless you plan on putting veneers on most of your anterior teeth (top and bottom), which doesn't sound like it's what you need. You could get 2 veneers for the front 2 teeth and it would cost between $1600-2200. That could potentially take care of your diastema (midline space) as well as the discoloration.
I'm a bit curious about your retainer making your gums bleed. I don't think it should be doing that.

i told my orthodontist if there was any way of getting my diastema closed more i think he tightened it, it closes almost all the way now, but opens up by the end of the night.

Most people here won't recommend treatment since we don't even know for sure what the problem is. The other few will probably try to sell you porcelain inlays.

Are you STILL trying to squeeze everything you can out of the comment? I just let it slide without commenting on your latest remarks. But now that you have made another dig in ANOTHER thread, I feel the need to vent. If you read in the post GRADUATED dentists said that yes, they are indicated with there is that certain type of decay but they are just hard to do and expensive. Notice in my OP I said MIGHT when I brought up inlays. What the hell??? Are you bored or something? Go get laid from your adorable wife and chill the F out.

If you don't take a chill pill or four, lady, you're going to end up stroking out in your computer chair. Get a grip, already.

I wish I could say that I can let it go when someone singles me out and makes direct comments on my character. But I don't let it slide and I call it like I see it. So if that makes you think I need a chill pill, so be it. I don't really care. My defense is a hell of a lot more important that what your thoughts are. No offense.

Then don't throw it.

You sound psycho. Why don't you read up on borderline personality disorder, it might sound quite familiar.

"singles me out and makes direct comments on my character"?

Yeah, those would be a pretty offensive things for somebody to do...which might explain why I didn't do either of them...?

The only person who's spotlighted you here is you--and I'd like to congratulate you on doing such a bang-up job. Best of luck in your continuing quest to preserve the integrity of your anonymous internet message board account.

those are my real teeth not fake ones btw, i just dont get why everything else aint yellow but those two are. Could it be my brushing technique??

I assure you it is not your brushing technique. If this is a fairly recent thing, that is to say it happened while in braces or shortly thereafter it could be related. The color of teeth is largly determined by the color of the underlying dentin and surface staining. Bleaching helps with stains but did not help you, so this is probably underlying dentin discoloration which might be due to pulp disruption. If that is the case, losening up the retainer might help a little but most likely it is permanent. If it really bothers you veneers might be the only way to fix it. And I think diastemas are endering and have great charachter. I think most dentists are trending away from chicklet "porn star teeth".

Personally, I don't think porn stars should have teeth, at least not the women.

You sick little monkey! LOL. I can see how lack of dentition might be a selling point for prostitues, but isn't porn all about visual performance? Jenna has the worst veneers ever...

That's funny. I never noticed her teeth................

Didn't she just sell her implants (silicone, not titanium) on EBAY for like 15K. They sure would have made a nice pillow.

so you think tightening of my retainer could have caused this? I dont understand why my orthodontist would have done that if it was going to do this =/. I asked him to try to get my diastema smaller, but damn i didnt want this. Will not wearing my retainer for a while help along with some of those professional crest strips help?

And a flat spot on her head for my beer.

There's a song on the Texas music circuit about a "young, dumb, blond, nymphomaniac, three feet high with a flat place on her head..."

A bit more serious reply about the issue of having certain teeth being several shades darker than the rest of them: I've had this problem and I found that the brush-on tooth whitening gel-type products really do the trick for me, since you can select which teeth you "paint" the stuff on, and the rest of them don't get any bleaching at all.
