Hello everyone,
I just recently got accepted into UHCO! 😍 I took my OAT on August 21, and received my acceptance letter on 9/24.
I was really scared of the OAT, was supposed to take it on July 9th but ended up rescheduling 5 times... lol $50 dollars down the drain! Well, all summer I would read the OAT forums to see how other people were doing and to try and estimate what I would get on the test. I found out about the opted test from reading the posts, and overjoyed to find out that it is the closest approximation to the OAT in terms of difficulty and what you might expect to score on the actual OAT. Here is my breakdown:
Opted/OAT
QR: 350/370
RC: 380/280 hehe
Bio: 360/340
Chem: 330/330
Orgo: 360/360
Physics: 300/340
Total Science: 350/350
Academic Avg: 350/340
Reading comprehension was really hard for me on the actual OAT lol. I did not take the Kaplan course, however I bought all of the materials from a friend who took it. I used the Kaplan Review notes, the lecture book they give you if you took the class, and flash cards. I bought the Kaplan OAT book that you can buy from bookstores that has the full length practice tests; the explanations were helpful. I also bought OAT achiever, but in my opinion it was a waste of money. I only ended up taking one of the three tests that you get with achievers because it seemed too difficult, and I got pretty sad since I was scoring below 300 on most sections.
If you are planning on taking the OAT and would like to know appx what you might score, I would highly recommend you visit the opted website and take the sample OAT test. https://www.ada.org/oat/index.html
Hope this helps! 🙂
