Hey,

I just took the opted OAT test and I heard that whatever you get will be very similar to what you'll get on test day? For those of you who have taken the test, is that true?

Also the Chem section to me seemed the easiest. Is that section harder on the test... because if not I'd rather focus on something else.

Thanks in advance!

I think the opted test was a little bit easier than the real thing.

I just took the oat on thurs, here's my opinion of the opted sample:

- bio, gchem, ochem, and math are very predictive of your real scores

- I found the physics on the sample test very hard, I scored about a 280, and on the real thing I scored a 360! When I saw that my score was so low, I bought the oat achiever online a few days before my test and went through all the physics questions. The real questions ended up being much more similar to the opted test but I suppose that doing so much oat achiever helped - despite the questions being more numbery than the real thing.

- Reading comp is very easy to do focus on for the opted test since its only 1 passage and its on paper. However the real one is 3 in a row which makes it significantly harder to keep focused (also the topics could be super boring and tedious), and the computer interface is something to get used to with all the scrolling and the whole set up. I got a 380 on the practice test and a 290 on the real thing... I was shocked. Its very frustrating, so make sure you don't go into it overconfident like I was... I'm kicking myself now.

- Overall on the real OAT, my TS was 380 and my AA was 350 (dropped cause of my reading comp 😡)

Ya, same thing here.

On Opted I got a 360 for RC and on the real thing which I just took a few hours ago I only got a 310. Yeah I was kind of mad about it, but I suppose a 310 isn't the worse thing in the world.
