Opternative

This forum made possible through the generous support of
SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I think asking folks on this forum their opinion on Opertative is like asking priests if they have ever looked at porn: most wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole, and those who have, would not admit to it. 🙂

The program is not very threatening to our field right now to be honest.
It's way too tedious of a process, the pre-existing conditions rule out most patients, and the OD that co-founded the project has been under indictment with a previous scandal. The algorithm is awful and I can't even comprehend how a contact lens brand is selected.
The future of telemedicine is inevitable, but Opternative is not it.

Edit: feel free to visit Opternative and go through the process. It's free unless you want the finalized prescription, it was seriously not a fun sequence just for a refraction.

When Warby Parker uses their millions/billions to develop an app, that's when the fear should set in.
