Hello y'all,

Does anyone has recommendations on how long/brief one should keep his/her response to an interview question? I am doing a lot of preparatory work for my interviews, and I feel like that most of my answer often ranges in 3-5 minutes zone, but I've heard applicants telling that 1 minute per question is more than enough.

What is the perfect length of the response do yall feel that wouldn't make the interviewer feel that you have too much too talk about (memorized answer) or too little (unable to keep a conversation)?

Thanks!

Talk as long as you need to describe your story thoroughly (don't ramble though) and don't be going 10 mins or so (which you aren't). 3-5 minutes is completely okay as long as you are happy with your answer and feel that you have explained yourself well. Also, some of my best interviews (including non-dental) were a conversation, not a question/answer/question/answer. Try to add a bit of humor, find out what your interviewer likes and if you share a genuine/shared interest then talk about it! An interview is just a test to show that you are a normal person and that can talk to a person in a dental chair (keep them reassured, calm, etc). There is no perfect length, it's literally what you are most comfortable with. Also, don't rehearse too much, just be ready enough that you can comfortably state your response without sounding TOO rehearsed. Good luck!
