Optional Essays on Secondaries:

A disguised required essay that you should do or actually optional?

Tricky question. It may have started out optional, but you know that 95% of applicants will fill it out. After awhile the adcoms probably get used to that...and start looking sideways at applications with blank essays.

There are optional essays? I don't remember that. I'd love to hear examples and what schools are asking them.

UW Madison gives a "Tell us anything else about yourself that cannot be found elsewhere on your application question." Arrgh! Thanks to all the over-acheivers there goes another couple hours of my life.
