  1. Pre-Medical
I go to Texas A&M. I was originally in Computer Engineering. I screwed around first year and came out with a 2.31 and only 18 completed hours. This third semester I woke up and will be coming out with a cumulative 3.0 and 33 completed hours (not including the 21 hours I brought with me from high school). The GPA can be raised to 3.7+ if I make all A's from now on. My thoughts are that I have two options:

Go into Business, which I am confident I would make excellent grades in, and take all of the prerequisites for Med school.
or
Go into Biology/Biomedical Science etc.

Either way I'm behind and will be spending my summers catching up. I've read that medical schools often think of a business major as someone who has a backup plan and like it. That is of course assuming I can still do well on the MCAT. If I go into business at this point then I will be spending an excess amount of time in Undergrad. I'll still be catching up a lot in Biol/BIMS, but I won't be wasting so much time.

Pros Business: Grades +, Backup plan
Cons Business: Basically double majoring and I'm already 2 semesters behind.

What to dooooo? Ultimately I really want to go to Med school.

It doesn't matter what you major in. Pick something you're interested in. Neither business nor bio will interest admissions committees, unless you are passionate about the subject matter and/or have done interesting outside activities around your passion.

Just do whatever you need to do to get your GPA as high as you can. You might need to take some time off from school to gain perspective and maturity. You might need to change schools.

Have you been in a hospital, shadowing or volunteering yet? If not, then you don't know what you're getting into. Get started on this right away, such as this afternoon, and get some years of clinical exposure before you apply.

Best of luck to you.
