When does optomcas tell you your gpa? When you actually submit the application or when all your transcripts are in?

Once you submit the application and your transcripts are verified, you'll be able to download the application that you submitted. It will include the different GPA calculations.

So if I submit an application to one school, I can find out my GPA? ( I want to hold off on the other schools so I can perfect the extra essays)

Yes, you are correct. When I downloaded my application to a school, there was a whole page dedicated to calculated GPAs.
