What types of Optometry experience should I have before applying? How many shadowing hours would be good? ANY TIPS IS APPRECIATED!

Shadow an optometrist for at least 50 hours. Obviously, do as much as possible, but start with that first. If you can find internships, do them. If you have time this summer, work at a clinic. 🙂
