Optometry in India

I am a Canadian student who is interested in going to school in India, specifically at Manipal, for Optometry. I was wondering if anyone has completed this or has any comments? WHat is the work load like? It is just a public school trying to take your money and have most it's students fail out? I was told that school is on a much harder level in India and it would be a very very difficult transition to make. Any ideas?

Where would you want to practice? I'm not sure about the laws in Canada - but in the US, to practice, even after getting your BOptom you'd have to take classes and graduate from an optometry school here (you have to have an OD).

I would want to work in Canada and have think there is a one year program after completing the BscOpt. Correct me if i am inccorect. Just interested if anyone has been to this school for this program and any ideas?
